If it were me and you don't already own the 13 tooth front or your stock 14 tooth is shot, I would just get a 48 or 49 tooth rear and keep the stock front. You will have to get a new chain for either setup and the 14 may help you save some wear on the chain.

I agree, I kept my 14T. It has that rubber thing on it and I'm not going to lose any weight by replacing it. This is the part number for the rear: 42041-(1421) it shares the same part number as a rear sprocket for a 97-07 klx300r, 97-07 kdx 220 and an 08 klx 450. Good luck!

hey thanks for the info i havent bought the front sprocket yet maybe i will hold off and just buy the rear 48t and new chain i think i read in this forum that it would require 108 links is this true. do you have problems with clearing the rear sprocket and chain guide.

48 will need 110 links, why do you want an aluminium sprocket? I'd stick with steel myself

I'd go with steel myself too. Rockymountain ATV has great deals on steel sprockets.

It was reported that 49 tooth was the biggest you could go on the 06-07 without having to mod the rear chain guide.

yep, I have a 50 tooth (Renthal aluminium) on mine and I had to chew away a bit of the chain guide for it to fit.
