Default Recall Notice on2009-2010 KLX250

Have others on here received the same notice? It states " Kawasaki Corp USA has decided that a tank defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2009-2010 KLX 250 models. On eligible units, the fuel tank could leak from cracks at the spot of the welds on the side mount taps due to stress caused by excessive clearance between the fuel tank and a frame-mounted rubber damper. Fuel leakage in the presence of spark or flame could cause a fire or explosion".

Mine is new and I think im going to just wait to see if there are any problems that will make it start leaking ..(excellent condition right now),.. being the fact of getting it to Kawaski dealer would be extremely difficult. Hate recalls. Anyone else received this notice or have views on it?

Yep. Check about three post down.
I've had no problems yet. Hoping someone will come along with a little more info. It sounds like it could be fixed with a spacer. I'd rather do it myself than let a "dealer" touch my bike.

I haven't received that recall notice...yet.

Hey, maybe part of Kawasaki's solution is a new tank in 3.5 gallon capacity.

I just got my recall in the mail last night. Great timing...I just removed all my smog stuff. Hope the dealer won't give me crap about that. I'll probably hold off for a while and see what everyone else finds out.

This is really good timing for me... my 3 week old bike sprung a fuel leak sitting in the garage. I'm hoping this is the cause...

I just called my dealer and thought I would get a price on adding my jetting kit and spooning on my new tires while I was there. I'm with you, they aint touching my bike at $170 to change my tires and another $170 to change my jets.
