Default Rear wheel bearing questions

Hi!

I am greasing the Swing Arm and Rocker Arm Bearing on my new to be 2007 KLX250S. I was planning on popping the top on the so called "sealed" wheel bearings and making sure they were adequately greased while I had the wheel off. It has some type rubber collar on top of the wheel bearings. First question, do the "sealed" bearings on the KLX need re-greasing? Second, will the rubber collar easily pop off? and third, will the rubber collar pop back in if you take it out? Thanks!

900 miles in the last 12 days and I am loving this bike! I think I would keep it over the KLR650 if I had to get rid of one of them!

I have popped them out before but they norrmally get distorted. Maybe if your real gentle. Bearing are dirt cheap. Buy new ones if ya feel like you need em.

I would just buy new ones.. I've only changed my fronts and I had to tear them apart just to get them out.. And they are not sealed - at least the fronts are not.. They were caked with crap and they were toast.. Bought a set of front and rear off ebay (All Ballz I think it was) for like $40 or something..

Thanks guys, the bike has less than 2,500 miles! Nothing needs replacing. I am simply checking the areas that normally have very marginal grease from the factory.

At that mileage, you can probably just roll the inner bearing races around with your finger and to see if you can detect any roughness or gritty feel. If you feel any, replace that bearing at least. If they're silky smooth, keep riding.

Best to buy em at an industrial dealer that sells bearing. I'm 99 % sure the fronts are 6202 Should be around 5 bucks each. All ***** is a rip-off.

For example click HERE Main thing is to get 6202 2RS. NOT 6202 ZZ. The zz have metal seals and dont keep dirt out very good.

FRONTS are 6202 2RS, REARS are 6004 2RS. Total price for set: $9.20. Shipping from the site I linked would be around 13 bucks. Check locally.
