Default RaceGass Question

Was going to post this in the octane thread but decided not to hijack it

I have about 20 gallons of 76 brand Race Gas in a 25gallon drum that a buddy of mine left me when he left island. Someone was supposed to buy it & I would forward the money but that never happened.
Is there any benifit or detriment to useing it in the KLX(other than a PIA to move from drum to tank 15 or more times)
It is free so I guess thats a benifit.
Also does race gas go bad over time. This stuff is at least 3-6 months old.

Cheers Jim

I can answer that question.

There is no benefit, as stated in the octane thread. Gas may go bad over time, but not in 6 months.
Nonetheless, free gas is free gas.

Yeah, I'd run that free gas in a heartbeat. It won't hurt anything if it's not too old. What's "too old" can change depending on storage techniques, temps, humidity, etc.

Thanks
Temps are high and humidity are high here. I assume both of them are bad. Was wondering about the too much octane comment in post #3 of the octane thread. Made by 09kawi250s. Guess I could google it/yahoo search it.

from what i understand, if its 100 or lower, its unleaded. higher its leaded. if you still have the stock exhuast with the cat, it will reak havic with that. with a pipe, i think your fine. next time i go to ocotillo, im stopping at 76 to get some 110 for ****s and giggles.

leaded? unleaded? oxygenated? octane, motor, RON, r+M/2, etc etc. All race fuels are not the same. If it's leaded and blue in color, 99% it's relabeled 100ll AV gas.

True that unless you can use the higher octane the fuel won't make any more power.
But there are highly oxygenated unleaded fuels that can make more power, even in a KLX, but you need to jet richer to use them. If you don't the bike will leaner than it already is (stock), which isn't a good thing.

Went and checked the drum and then looked it up on line. It is the C12 blend. Green in color and 108 octane. It is listed under leaded fuels. So....................Since I am not running a cat converter in my Muzzy am I good to go?

Run it. It's just gas. Expensive leaded gas, but gas nonetheless.
