Default Quiet Exhaust System

I'm looking for a light weight/quiet slip-on to dump some, actually lots, of the weight off my KLX. Any recommendations?

Local clubs that are part of the Suzuki Dual Sport Series dB check all aftermarket exhaust systems at registration and don't hesitate to refuse entry for loud bikes. The borderline loud KTM two-strokes only get in because KTM dumps $$$ into the series and 90% of the bikes in the events are KTMs. The three events I rode last summer/fall, I had the only KLX250S.

Which begs another question. None of the KTM reps at the events can never seem to answer it. "If 90% of the bikes in the dual sport events are KTMs, why are 95% of the bikes that break down at each event also KTMs?" I guess the answer is in the question.

good luck on finding a quiet lightweight slip on... they are all pretty loud,

thats like going to a ford dealer and seeing mechanics all working on fords... its a FORD dealer..... every manufacturer breaks down.....

Your safest bet is a FMF Q4 or a KLX300 muffler. I have a Pro Circuit 496 which is quieter than most & marketed as a quiet system but I know the KLX300 muffler is quieter &assume the Q4 would be also.

This isn't a bolt on solution (I don't think it is anyway), but I'd get a Supertrapp IDS2.
Someone on here has one and he posted a video here...

Pretty quiet. I've got one on the way for my wife's Super Sherpa.
I fully expect it to be way quieter than my Muzzy full system (on my KLX).

My HMF with the Quiet Core insert is pretty mild sounding and light.

your best bet would be to find a KLX300R full system, and then remove the buttplug from the muffler. It supposedly makes very good power according to Larry Roeseler and lots of other people. That would be pretty quiet and if you can find this system, alot cheaper than any slip-on.

I have a fourstroke works with a quite core- much louder than stock but not as loud as some other pipes I've heard. The stock 300 system my be a way to go.

What is the cut off db's. I would say that the quietest may be the Q4.
