Default Question for the Vapor Owners

I've been considering getting one for my 06 klx, and I was looking at the stock speedo gear thing on the front tire and the space between it and the fork.

Do you toss the speedo gear in the klx parts box? Some sort of spacer required....what's the scoop?

Maybe not the best way to go about it, but when I did mine, I just left the speedo bracket / gearing in place and capped it off with some black RTV sealant.

I remember you doing it that way. It is the straight forward way to space it and keep hub clean.

Anyone else try sumthin different?

With the Vapor kit you get a plug to put in the hole to seal it up

Like what he said:

Thats the plug that came with the kit. Id have ditched the speedo drive if I found anyone that did a speedo drive eliminator. But the plug works fine.

Ok, one last post on the subject.

I assume the klx 300 Vapor kit works and is the one to get?

There was a company that used to make the odo eliminator spacers. I don't remember the name of the company or if they are still available. I have one in my "box of parts" that I haven't used yet. I was going to get an ICO computer but never did and am still using the stock odometer. It is made out of aluminum stock and looks like it would be easy for a machinist to replicate. Jerry at Four Stroke Works may know if they are available or may even be able to make them.

Finger, I have a vapor that I am going to be mounting soon. I am going to machine an aluminum spacer to eliminate the speedo drive. If you want I'll do 2 of them. What do you want to trade this time.

I used a plug as well when I installed a GPS.
Works fine.

Is there something of the MX bikes that could work?
Come to think of it, it'd probably a different hub altogether.
