About 3 weeks ago I lost my indoor storage place & had to resort to storing my bike outdoors behind my parents house. I had it under a nylon cover.
Well today I went over to take her out for a ride & I found rust on the chain,oxidation on the f/r hubs brake calipars/spokes & my new 2Brothers slip on.

I oiled up the chain & took a ride but Im really bumming about the oxidation!

How should I go about cleaning this?

Well the only product I know of that works worth a damn is Neverdull...it's a marine product but a pia to use. You get a lil tub full of cotten soaked in their stuff. You use the cotten to rub said spot until new....takes time.

It does protect good thou after done..... Oh did I say this stuff takes time.

 

This stuff works really well. It also contains 'oxidation removing agents.' I put a link below the pic.

Just get some sugar soap. The best and cheapest by far for keeping your alloy up to scratch

Whenever possible take off the cover to minimize condensation, try to make sure it's vented in some way.

I know how you feel. My KLX was orignally came from Guam. So its got a little salt water corrision. Luckily, its not bad and under control. The chain thou is ugly but still works just fine.

 

Sugar soap? What's that? Do you have to fight off Wallabies, Kangaroos and crocs just to get to the sugar soap fields? Speak English for crying out loud! [8D] Excuse me while I go throw another 'shrimp on the barby.'

After looking it up, it seems almost like baking soda with sodium silicates added.

 

You can get it in Kmart, that means you can get it everywhere.
Use it to clean painted walls. Very low abrasion apparently.

Haha! If it is available stateside, I doubt it goes by that name, but I'm not close enough to check. I did a wiki pedia look-up and it says the product is mainly available inBritish commonwealth countries. TSP cleaner is probably the closest you can come to it in the states.

 

+ 1 on the Mothers polish. Its the bomb! Oh and Purple cleaner is good too. But what would I know.[8D]
