I loved the bottom end of that 340 I had in there. I might go with the b and b kit. My ultimate plan was to do the big bore exhaust jetting and a stand alone msd programmable ignition. Also windscreen luggage and seat. I wonder if I out a 15t up front if the little 250 will have enough power on the highway. I know it doesn't now but it's at like 8k at 75. I really don't want to change the carb though, maybe i will though. But I love my 77 mpg. Grrrr.

Well I'm taking my bike to a go kart track tommorrow beat the hell outta her. I redlined it all the way to work today and it makes a sharp tinny noise at like 9k but oh well. Seems like it won't actually hit the rev limiter hard anymore. Oh well

you won't hit the rev limiter like you did with the 340.
the little 250 takes more to get there.
Also, the big bore likes to cruise down lower than the 250.
I put a 15t on the front and chug mine all over.
Really can appreciate the 351 kit with the 15t on it.
i can still lift the front wheel in 1st or 2nd with just the throttle, and can chug around the woods in bottom 3 gears just fine. I haven't had an opportunity to try hill climbing yet though.

Well i fell in love with the bike again. I decided to just throw the slip on, on, and do the jet kit with stage 2. i only used the 124 instead of 128, runs MUCH better. Cant wait to go to the track tmrw. I think i might bail on the whole big bore kit and just do the ignition. it generally gains 5-7 hp being that its 10 deg more timing.

Could you elaborate on the ignition tweak that provides this additional 5-7 hp?

you bump up the ignition advance to 35 degrees like the au version vs the 25 degrees advance on the us version, you do have to have a high flow exhaust though.

Well my valves are in good order, exhaust is between .005 and .007 on both, intake is .005 and .006 (in) but i pulled off the side casing clutch side and found a possible culprit of my noise. Seems i dropped a head bolt washer in the timing chain area. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

i also took a peek into the oil filter "screen" and found a bunch of precious little metal chunks. Could be from anything i guess.

My mechanic said the ticking i was hearing was usually the oil ring being broke. But I dont think thats what the noise was. Cuz it wasnt every piston stroke. Just a every other. So i dunno. maybe ill pull the top end of again to be sure.

he said the transmission sounded and felt funny though. i dont want to get into that until something breaks though. The transmission seems like a scary area.

What make is your big bore kit?
What does the bore of the cylinder look like?

Well my question on reliability has been anwered, i rode the **** out of my bike, took it to a race track and put 80 miles on teh race track, with a piston that was missing a lip (not inside teh engine) and a timing chain with 1 link of three in teh same section holding it on. Kawasaki is hard to the core. im in the process of replacing the parts, and will probably keep this bike until something catastrophic (lol) happens.
