Default Question of jetting (What altitude do you ride at?)

After reading the various threads of rejetting the carb, and the various improvements it makes, I was curious about how the KLX is affected by altitude. I ride at about 6000ft elevation, with a very real possibility of getting to 10,000 feet, but 6-8 is probably the average altitude that I ride at.

If I rejet my carb, would it be more beneficial to take it another step higher? Currently I experience some hesitation, and I get a popping when Im compression/engine brake to slow down.

Default RE: Question of jetting (What altitude do you ride at?)

I have asked the same question two times and have yet to get an answer. So I contacted. my cousin that owns and works in a shop called THIN AIR power sports that specializes in high altitude, high performance snowmobiles. After talking it over we ordered a couple of main jets, pilot jets and the N1TC needle. First we are going to richen it up but at the same time we will be changing the snorkel and drilling the exhaust baffle and the crank case breather The reason we decided to go rich is the color of the sparkplug and the way the bike ran when I road it five miles home from work with the choke on.
I will post he results when I get it figured out. By the way I ride mostly at about 5000 feet

I'm more intot he 2 stroke street bike's but from what I understand is that from
0<>2000ft is = to sea level, and every 2000 ft above that you must come down in jet size??
With the lack of good air at higher elevation you'll have to strike a cord somewhere in between.

It's hard to imagine that you'll be able to fat'n it up to much??

125 main jet, KDX snorkle, stock pipe - Just rode 50 miles between 6000 - 7000 ft. Plug was black afterwards, way too rich.

i ride pretty much at sea level. maybe a few hundred feet above at most. 128 main, 3 groove from top, 2.5 turns out with full big gun exhaust and kdx snorkel runs perfect
