Same here. Long as you have good placement of the tape, you only need one or two wraps of the tape so the plastic has something to bite in to. Mine never spin. I have a bigger problem fitting everythign on my bars, especially after cutting an inch off each side. Plus the clutch cable BARELY reaches with the higher bars.

Yeah I was thinking of getting a higher bar, but saw that there wasen't too much extra cable length.
I have ordered an FMF Q4 muffler, got Moose racing hand guards and plan on getting rad guards over the winter.

Well the stock bars were just TOO low for me while standing, and I'm only 5'9 barefoot (taller in the SIDI boots of course). Only regret is the bar I have has too much pull back and my wrists hurt after a long ride. The clutch cable reaches but there ain't much slack locked one side and there's a fair amount locked the other way, but I have full clutch operation so no worries. I have the Pastrana FMX bend from Pro-Taper, and IIRC its one of the higher bars available. Plus they are a bit lighter than stock & more sturdy. Defiantely gotta say my bars are one of my favorite mods.

Be sure and thuroughly clean your handlebar and lube the cables while you've got it all apart and you're already dirty.

Since I haven't shown off my beautiful bike in several months: I quit running the headache pad, I like the naked bar look better (and I've never hit my head ON the bars; I tend to go over them)

I used a thin piece of rubber instead of electrical tape, the electrical tape moved some on mine renthals. The rubber was thin like inner tube rubber.
