Default PSI for SF wheels

I weigh 160 lbs and am wondering what psi I should be running? Max on the side wall is 42, way to hard. I tried 32 psi and still seems too hard.

Thanks in advance.

This is such a personal thing, it's a tough question to ask or answer.

The crotch rocket guys swear that 35+ psi is best & the hardcore SuperMotard riders like to have 18-25 psi. The low pressure is for quick tire warm up, bump absorption & larger contact patch on the road!

The factors to consider are how do you ride? What do you weigh? What tires have you got...soft/hard....crossply/radial...cheap/expensive....racing/duel sports? Hot country/cold country...winter/summer...hot/cold roads?

When I had the original IRC tires on my bike, I liked 33f & 35r because they we're cheap tires with weak walls & felt really skirmy with lower pressures in them! Now I got a quality set of radials on (Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2), they have a stronger side wall & feel great with 28f & 30r. The roads in Thailand get really hot with the high temperature here & these Pirelli's warm up quick anyway, so I don't feel the need to run really low PSI's.

But I weight 230lbs with super soft performance tires on hot roads.....That's my story!!

It really is a personal preference with many contributory factors! keep us posted if you do any experimenting.

According to KLX250SF owner's manual: front tire 29 psi, rear tire 33 psi

I was running 22 psi for a while and it really smoothed out the bumps which I liked (felt like I had more control in the corners). But I was afraid that this low psi might be making the little 250 a little sluggish. I am going for a rip today and I am going to try 25 psi in the rear.

Thanks for the replies.
