Default Protection Gear Thread Search

Hi,

I remember reading a post here about the importance of wearing great gear with pictures of people getting injured with improper gear... I cannot find the thread anywhere...

I remember that thread convinced me to spend money on good gear and I would like to convince a friend of mine...

Does anyone remember the thread I am talking about?

Thanks

i look stupid when I ride because i have so much gear on. Comes with being a medic. One time measuring how far the biker slid by the blood streaks and i'll always be protected. I don't know the article you speak of, but if your buddy is that dumb and cheap, thank him for my job security.

spent a day trying on gloves...lightweight and flexibility was my deciding factor...found the alpinestar smx-2 air carbon gloves to be the favorite...comfortable, flexible, well armored and lightweight...

i'm looking for an armored jacket that looks casual...basically something that doesn't look like a motorcycle jacket....any suggestions?

for helmet....picked up an icon variant (full-face, shield, motard helmet)...looks nice and does well on the freeway...but, on windy days...it's a head ( ( ( (( s h a k e r )) ) ) )....some guys told me not to cheap out on a helmet...so...the fit of the shoei and arai are great....both very lightweight....which is better?

Either are great helmets. I prefer the fit of Shoei's myself.

On helmets, I have read that the high end helmets don't necessarily offer better protection. Make sure DOT and SNELL certifications are on it, and that it's comfortable, and fits well.

Funny, I think it's the guys without gear who look stupid!

read similar helmets offer similar protection...$50 or $600...more you pay, better material quality, better venting, better aerodynamics, lower weight and less wind noise...

Here is a good reason why you should wear your gear..

That's true that inexpensive helmets are often as good or better from a safety standpoint.
I wouldn't look for Snell approval. Their test methods have been considered questionable for some time, and although they defend them, they are changing the way they test helmets. Snell approval requirement by some sanctioning bodies is almost always insurance, not safety related.
