Default Proper way to reconnect clutch cable

I figured I would do a little maintenance this morning so the clutch cable got a lube up.

But now that it is all nice and slippery how do I get it back on

Yeah dumb question. Do I do the bottom linkage first or last? I am trying last but that is not so great trying to push the linkage forward to get the cable to seat.

Did you close up the adjusters so that you have maximum slack between the cable and the housing? This shouldn't have any difficulty with a slack cable.

I did close the adjusters so let me go play with it and see if I a over thinking it. I was trying to push the linkage forward and thread the nipple over the top of the linkage and that was not working.

EDIT: Ok got it. But not without my wife lending a third hand. It seems a tad short with the adjusters all in to get it. The linkage also kind of inhibits it from just falling in place too.

Just for future reference, you can often make the final connection at the clutch lever. You line up the gap on the threaded adjuster along with the adjuster's lock nut. You put the gap inline with gap in the clutch perch. Then you hook the round cable end into the lever. Now you lay the cable over into the gaps of all three components and use the adjuster nut flange for leverage against the end of the metal cable housing ferrule while you pull the cluch. Pull tightly on the cable housing as you release the clutch cable, allowing the cable to drop into the gap of the perch, threaded adjuster, and nut.

Thank you. It did feel a little backwards doing it at the linkage but I thought it would be easier. I will reference this next time.

Now I need to do the throttle side...

the workshop manual actually calls for the removal of the bottom bracket, this allows much easier cable r & r.
