I just wired in a sealed 12v socket off of the battery tender circuit at the battery. I wired it in after the fuse holder so there is overload protection. I just routed it up to the triple's at the bars and the socket just sits by the ignition lock. I only use it to power my GPS that I velcro'd to the top of the fuel cap. It seems to be very durable/vibration proof and was easy to do.

Ram Mount offers some cool stuff!!!! Bottom line for me is.......I want my iphone5 powered and mounted somewhere close to my speedo readout, preferably centered or on the clutch side. So far what I researched is everyone's using their battery tender connector with the ring ends to the battery terminals, which is awesome and is totally simple and makes sense!!!! Glad I hung on to that part of the kit!!!!! I'm connecting that as we speak, run it up to the front for now. Gonna have to score that socket with plug in to go ready from battery tender, hide some wiring, zip tie that sucker somewhere neat and call it good!!! I have an Otter Box Defender series case on my iphone5, I'm thinking the X four point mount handle bar Ram Mount setup will put that phone right where I want it! Just thinking out loud, totally open for something cleaner and easier..............??

Ram Mount has their s$&? together!! Basically a bar ball mount, any size bar width will work, an arm, and whatever you wanna hang in front of you!!! I ordered a kit that I customized, anyone can do it, anyways.......the mount with the ball I'm going to tighten down to my clutch side just before it splits to the handlebar pad, screw that down tight then I have my one inch ball mounted, then I ordered the SIX inch arm, and the universal Apple X mount. Just like my Ram mount mirrors, super strong and vibration free, I'm positive I can position that iPhone sideways or regular, right over my pro taper cross bar bad!!! Perfectly centered!!! Plug my earbuds in, plug my charger in, and my phone, tunes, text, GPS, bla bla bla....is right in front of my face....or wherever I position it!!! I love Ram Mount stuff!!!!! I just recently started riding with earbuds in jamming to iTunes, my concentration has multiplied beyond my dreams!!!! Totally different world!!! Skull Candy Titans!, best ear buds on the earth, can just hear my bike and the music, some traffic, great balance!!!!!! I got the chrome ones Can't wait to change songs and take a call while having total control right in front of my face! So excited!!! That whole Ram Mount deal is like 50$, priceless for what I'm going to experience!! And that female power point plug in from batter tender, 7$ or so, I'm thinking auto parts stores even sell them, if not straight from there sight or Amazon, same price though I believe!?!?!? Pretty much answered my own questions but, I hope a rider out there is thinking dang I need a setup for my phone and some answers???? Miller time in effect, I'm still thirsty!!!

I have a USB plug on mine. Here's a link to what I did. You'll also see some pics of the RAM Mount.

After install I had to add a cutoff switch because it was draining may battery.

I also have battery tender pigtails attached to my battery for any prolonged storage. Like that's ever going to happen.

Yeap, the RAM Mount is the way to go. I was skeptical at first, but it is very secure and my phone has never come close to being dislodged. I wanted a low profile look, so I went with the short arm. I love my setup.
