So i found this little doohicky in my toolbox. Just a round base, with a pivot ball joint screw coming out of it. Surprisingly enough it screws into the base of my camera. I attached it to my helmet with some hot glue, and ziptied the handle to the visor just in case. Pretty sure it won't be able to handle any major jumps or bumping around, but I'll try to give it a test run tonight.

 

Good idea, but not the best for the trails. With me, after just 5mins, that camera will be gone or stuck in some tree branch.

But also, how would take photo shots. You're gonna need some remote trigger device.

If this is your first, make some test runs in the living room. I was surpised at how much "up angle" was required to shoot the "line of sight". I have to aim up about 30 degrees more than I expected.

That looks workable, but like learjet said, just watch out when you duck branches. I used to have mine mounted around my temple area, but even that was not enough out of the way:

I subsequently moved the mount down around the jaw area. Been there for almost a year now, so far so good. But mine's more the "bullet" style camera, that area would probably not work so well with yours.

 

Here's one I've been looking at. It's less than $200.00, 170deg wide angle lense, waterproof and will soon have a free firmware upgrade download that will expand the max allowable SD memory from 2GB (56minutes) to 4GB (112 minutes) of recording time. Resolution is only 512x384 but that's fine for my purposes. I know there are better cameras to be had, but they're usually around $600.00

That thing looks pretty cool.....can it go underwater too?? If so what depth?

 

grr....it actually recorded fine, but I tried a few times, and never got enough 'up angle'. Looks like the thing was pointed off into the sky, but when I play it back I just see the front of the bike. There was a little wind drag, but the camera seems pretty stable, and the hot glue is holding up well. I'll try to fix the angle and give it another shot.

That cam looks cool...and affordable!....I need to get one..I always take the digital camera, but it seems whenever I am having a great time, I don't want to stop and take pics. BUT if I had a video recorder, I could just turn it on and go. Thanks for posting that Tremor...gives me something to look for.
