Default Please help!

I have a 2009 klx250s and bought acerbis uniko hand guards for it. Many sites have told me they fit the 09 but I cant figure out how. The clutch and brake assembly is in the way of where you mount it on the handlebar. I tried to move them over but they are still in the way. Can anybody help me out here? Thanks.

The problem is the stock bars suck. You need to get some aftermarket bars. You don't have to spend huge money. I think I got some MSR bars for $35 and they've stayed straight thru some fairly good getoffs. Look around and you'll get something that works for you.

The part where the hand guards attach to the bike is fine its just that the clutch and brake boxes or whatever they are are in the way of the hand guards fitting on properly.

AChairBeeeeeee... yup. They are a pain to fit with an 07 as well. I ended up getting some wider bars.... love them and you will too!

I have an 07 and had the same issue. I pulled out the Dremel with a grinding stone on it and they work perfect.

I put Moose Racing hand guards on my 09 and had to use some spacers to get them to work. I have straight mounts on mine but may switch to the Contour mounts as I can see the brake switch snapping off if I ever drop the bike. I can post pictures of mine if you need see how I installed them. Check out this link as maybe they will work for you too.

I had a similar problem when installing barkbusters. I put the barkbuster VPS on mine because they had a better angle bend to fit the stock levers, the EGOs will not allow the levers to fit inside the barkbusters. I recon you are running into the same problem. There are a few solutions.

You can either:

1. Trim/Grind the levers down to size to fit
2. Buy some new shorter levers (2 or 3 finger)
3. Try a different kind of barkbuster with different bend
4. Try sliding the brake/clutch mounts in or out of the current location

Here's a snapshot of the VPS installed with my aftermarket bars (pro taper hi bend), I have since routed the clutch cable on top of the barkbusters for better fit:
