At this point I'd say I'm happy with the bike. It's a different machine than I bought 2 years ago.

Sweet!

My old bike and yours are really pretty similar as far as the major mods go, except mine had the FCR35 and yours the Mikuni.

I'm worried that I might be too lean... Guess there's only one way to find out. Play with jets till its rich, then back off.

Yeah, that's a tough one to figure out sometimes without an O2 sensor, but I suppose you could do the old fuel chop/plug check routine. That's kinda tedious, but you would eventually get there. Now -with a flatside- it's really easy to tell if you're lean on the lowside (0 - 1/4 throttle) because you will get a very pronounced surge at a constant throttle opening. Just put it in gear and crawl along as slow as the bike will move...if it's lean you will get some unmistakeable surging. You will also get some killer backfire on decel...not just a mild popping.Moving the needle up or downalso has a pronounced effect in that range. Whenmy needle is3 notches from the top, I have to set thefuel screw (idle richness) at 2 turns from closed. If I raise the needle one more notch, I only have to open the screwto 1/2 turn from closed.

Accelerator pump timing is another issue. The guys over at Thumper talk recommend about a 1 second squirt (when whacked open to WOT)and one guy even recommendsmeasuring that duration with a video camera. Mine came from Yoshimura with the actuation range setfrom 1/4 to 3/4 throttle opening and seems to work just fine that way.

Good luck. Keep us updated.
