How are you planning to break in the motor? There are several methods. 1) ride it like you stole it right out of the box (I would not recommend that one) 2) Go by what the manufacture suggests, (yea if you want to get ran over in traffic for the first 500 miles, (no thanks) But there is another way,http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htmand I recommend that you read and seriously consider it for your new toy. But ultimately its up to you the owner to decide. Good luck and congrats on the new ride.

Sorry for the rain. Be sure to wait for dry road because those stock tires are slick.

A Utah Skid Plate, Acrebis Rally Pro hand guards, Unabiker radiator guards, and a Clark Tank will serve you well.

Just picked my bike from the dealer! I amnow offically an owner (along with the bank). Has 2 miles from the dealer test run & I have not ridden it yet. I has benn raining heavy since last night & leaves cover the road. I picked it up with my friend & his truck.Deej,I have read http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm& I discuessed it with the dealer. What he said was basically the same thing. Warm the motor before riding & run thru the gears between 4 to 6k rpm & use the motor to deaccelerate. He also said to not idle it for long periods & to ride it a while & let cool down & do it a few times.I asked about the oil & he said the Kaw break in oil is fine & he recommended against using synthetic untill break in is complete.Sid,The items on your list:Utah Skid PlateAcrebis Rally Pro hand guards. Unabiker radiator guards.Clark Tank. The only other thing im thinking about is the exaust. I was thinking about a 2 Brothers slip on & a rejet.Where would you recomend purchasing these items from. I see the links for the skid plate & rad guards but how bout the other goodies?Thx,Paul

Congrats on the bike. The acerbis pro ralley hand guards are nice(I have a set)but I think there are ones that are just as nice with more coverage that can be had.

Agreed, I'm still in the first 500 miles of the manufacturerssuggested break in, and keeping it under 4k is no fun and I do get crowded by traffic. It's kinda hard to just keep riding around the neighborhood.Food for thought.

Congrats on the new bike, I like mine so far...Good mod ideas also!

The evening skies are clear with almost a full moon. If that is any indication of tommorows weather, I will be out riding.

The Utah Skid plate was purchased direct with a 15% discount I found in this forum somewhere. The Acerbis hand guards and Clark tank were purchased from a local shop (Cyclegear.com) with a 10% storewide discountl. The radiator guards were part of my Group Buy.
