Default Paging FMF Q4 Owners

Hey guys need an answer for a few questions.

1: Where did you order the pipe from?
2: Did you get the slip on or full system, why?
3: How many miles do you have on it so far?
4: Still like it?
5: How does it compare to other exhausts in the sound department?

RE 5: I have the KLX300 stock can with no backplate and its loud enough that I can't ride long without wearing earplugs. I'm fairly certain its quieter than a Muzzy with the Quiet Core but would like a pipe that is quieter yet for times when I take my girlfriend with me. I'd rather she enjoy the ride than have ringing ears (haven't found comfortable earplugs).

Can answer only2 of your questions. I did order the Q4 and the power bomb headers for my 06 250. Bought the bike used with 2200km (1367miles) and I never rode it. Took it of my truck putted it in the garage and opened the engine right up. Now wating for my 300 cylinder, acerbis tank and Fmf exhaust to arrive.

I did order my Fmf system from Starcycle.com on the net. They were the cheapest that I found in the time I had to search. But I will check for the other response to your questions.

I purchased The Q4 and powerbomb header as a full system. The power bomb header also gives you an increase in flow & power. I purchased them through my local kawasaki dealer because he owed me a favor. I got them for his cost. $400 for both. The Q4 is quiet, and the power has increased a lot. I also removed the air box lid, rejetted, Kouba screw, air filter, and removed smog stuff. The bike pulls hard well past 9000 RPM. I've been running FMF pipes since I raced Motocross they are an excellent pipe, and highly recomend them. 2500 miles on the pipe so far, still quiet and no problems.

after reading upon 3 hours of exhaust threads yesterday, I found that leaking around the junction is a problem with the FMF pipes as there is no clamp or anything to hold the two together. I thought you had a 2 bros. Plus, the FMF pipes are huge and stick way out, this according to old threads. the chances of you getting ANY aftermarket pipe as quiet as you wish is going to be impossible imo. if you want quiet, put on the original pipe. when I removed the end cap from my DRZSM it was louder than stock, quite a bit; but nowhere nearly as loud as any pipe I've heard on this site including the full FMF with power bomb which uses the Q4 muffler. this is the one that sticks extremely far out the back and leaks according to the guys who bought this pipe.
anyways, the concensus around here from your good buddies is that the 2 bros. slip-on is the holy grail with no reported problems at all. you can get it as cheap as $309 shipped if you call that cheap for a slip-on, I don't. someone got one for $250 off ebay but there are no longer any for sale there.

I'm almost tempted to try the fmf header with my powercore 4 slip on instead of my FSW header. The powercore is alot shorter than the q4 and i honestly think it's alot quieter (with quiet core) compared to the one i heard. My fmf came with a nice dixon clamp and ive had no leakage at the mating point but i did have to modify the fsw header to mate to the fmf silencer tho....I have to tig weld the slots in the header closed because the silencer was made to slip over it and not into it.

I'm aware of how long the FMF Q4 is. It does look a bit large compared to the stock 06-07 fender but I don't think it would be bad with my setup:

If you look at Mole's pics it looks like it will end right near the end of the subframe:

In this side shot you can see that there is over 8" of fender before the pipe would look like its "hanging out there":

Truckman, did you ever get a video or sound clip up of the powercore 4? I have the 300 headpipe so I could go that route too, I just want/need something smooth and quiet-ish. The 300 can is rather tinny sounding and gets obnoxious on the pavement.

Here's Truckman's PC4 for comparison:

The PC4 seems to have a much taller can than the Q4, so I'm assuming thicker packing instead of longer packing?

Also with the PC4, I see you have the passenger pegs removed, do they still work or do they hit the pipe?

josh, i bought the Q4 slip-onfrom starcycle. $345 shipped. i like it a lot more than the muzzy full system.it's not nearly as loud as the muzzy and the throttle response off the bottom is better. i do have a pumper and the vortex throttle though
