Default Oregon Dunes

I finally got some video up on youtube from our Oregon Dunes trip. You can see in the video how well my son's KLX with the 351 kit did in the sand (a lot due to his great skills!).

Video looks best at 1080p since that is what it was recorded at...

Thanks! We had a blast! I stuck to the ATVs in the sand, but my wife and I did a couple of nice runs out into the coastal mountain range on the bikes. Found miles of forest roads to explore. We love that area (North Bend/Coos Bay), and try to go back every year.

I was gonna ask if you shot that at Coos.. the terrain looked a lot like it. We'll be in Florence next weekend. We have paddle tires for both of our KLX's, but I'll have my Outlaw 525 IRS along too.

Does that KLX351 have stock gearing?

He has stock gears.

He mounted the flag by wrapping it with duct tape to the right thickness to just stay put in the holes for the stock tool bag, which he had removed. His rear frame has been modified (shortened several inches and reinforced after it cracked), so I'm not sure if that would work on a stock setup or not. Mine has the aftermarket rack mounted up there, so it definitely wouldn't work on mine.

Last year I mounted one up to mine by removing the helmet lock and bolting up a small bracket in that location. But I didn't really use it, because after about 30 minutes in the sand, I was done and went back to the ATV...

My ATV is a Honda TRX450R with sand paddles. It does really well in the sand! It has been geared down a bit from stock, dropped one tooth off the front sprocket and added two to the rear sprocket (which is as big as you can go with the stock chain guard). Even geared lower, it is just ridiculously fast. On open perfectly smooth sand, I chickened out about halfway through 4th gear. At that point it was moving so fast that everything was a blur. I don't know how anybody ever tops one out in 5th gear and maintains control...
