My wife and I was talking about your trip yesterday and she said "Oh, you should have went with him. You would have had fun!"
Now she tells me. Oh well, maybe next time. Be carefull and stay safe!

Shade,
Nice trip. Went through a bunch of that country on the way back from Daytona and it looked perfect for a bike ride. We were pulling them in a trailer since there was still snow on the ground back home. Heading down to the Ozarks June 1st for the weekend, but will leave the KLX at home for this one. Right now looks like two sport bikes and two Harleys. Bit of a mixed bag.
Anyone going to Sturgis first week in August?

Hey, guys. Two days off in Nashville. Deals Gap tomorrow! Wish me luck!
I'm camping mostly so no internet. I'll check and post when I can.

Did the Dragon today, twice! One of the coolest bikes I saw was a motard version of a KLR 650. Super fat tires and stock motor. He was running with a Ducati Monster and another motard, WR 450. The WR laid them all away, but the KLR and the Duck were about a match. Of course the rider was the equalizer as is normally the case. I got a little rain on the return trip. I followed a woman on a GSX-R 750 on the way back, in and out of the rain. It was a little intimidating on my FXDX, Dyna Sport, but not as bad as I'd have thought. I put a new set of Avons on before the trip and they seem to stick pretty well. I've heard plenty of warnings and horror stories about accidents on the Dragon. Some involved trucks, some, head-on with other bikes and several solo wipe outs. Lots of ways to lose it up there. I plan to hit it one more time tomorrow morning and then head on east into North Carolina before starting my loop back home.
OH! I rode a couple of Buell's today at Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson...got my free messenger bag for my trouble. Cool bikes.

Sweet! Sounds like a great ride, Shadetree. Wish you could've made it over as far as where I'm at, but just getting here from there would be a good full day's ride I'm sure. I've taken tomorrow afternoon off work trying to get everything packed up for the trip up to the NE ride tomorrow. Call your wife and have your KLX shipped over here tomorrow and we'll load it up in my truck and you can add to your adventure by partaking in the first annual NE Ride.
Ride safe!
