My UK spec KLX 250 - with EFI worked out to 82mpg last time i checked _ mixture of gentle green lanes and 50 - 70mph A roads in between. (82mpg UK Gallons = 68.5mpg US Gallons I think)

Funny we measure in mpg but buy fuel in Litres - probably as at £1.40 per litre it would scare us ~ £6.36 per UK Gallon / £5.31 per US Gallon ~ or to put it another way $10.20 per UK Gallon / $8.51 per US Gallon. Good job the UK is fairly compact otherwise no-one could afford to go anywhere

I have just shorted out the clutch switch to give a new fuel map (a known EFI mod) - no soft limit in higher gears allows you to use all the revs in all the gears - so this may change will let you know

Well took the bike to work after doing the oil change and adjusting the chain and lubing it, it certainly is a lot smoother and changes gears better. I hate to think how old that oil was. Seemed to get up to speed quicker too. I have also ordered a new chain and sprockets.

I am one of the folks that sees a huge shift in mpg when going from normal roadway cruising at 70 mpg to actual, real, slow, nasty, off-road riding where I hit the reserve before 50 miles which works out to under 35 mpg.

Seems to many folks "off-road" is just a gravel road.

checked the last 2 tankfuls 71mpg bit of drop but probs due to me revelling in the extra go and bombing all over the place, second tankful 78mpg (65mpg - US gall) mixture tarmac and lanes. So for EFI bikes the clutch switch mod costs about 3p gives you loads more go and has little effect on consumption.

I agree when out in the desert I was getting less than 35-38 mpg. All the wheel spin even with full knobby tires I guess.. But on road it's easily in the upper 50s.

Fueled up yesterday and did the math 80 mpg us or 95 mpg imperial. Not too shabby.

I want a 3 gal. tank, but I won't buy one till one is available for use with the stock locking cap.

My bike is kept outside in a parking lot, since I live in a small apartment, so I wouldn't want some kid dumping stuff in my tank, or siphoning my hard earned money straight out of the tank.

after spending some premium prices for oil....i found my cheapest option...$25 for over a gallon (about 4.5 quarts) of yamalube semi-synthetic 10W-40....good for 3 oil changes...$15 for over a gallon of yamalube regular 10W-40 oil....they give me an extra $1 off if i bring the original container....basically at the yama/kawi/suzuki dealer...they just pump straight out of their barrels....they always top it off and give that extra 0.5 quart to do 3 full oil changes...
