Default OEM Dunlops or ??

Is everyone pretty happy on the road with the OEM Dunlop D603's that come with the KLX250S? Or what tires are people using when changing them? My wife has the bike and I want it to be safest. I like the looks and feel of the Dunlops myself and am getting them for my DRZ.
Thanks,
db

I doubt that you will be able to find the 603's..... they suck in the dirt.....606's are good..... kenda 270's too

Go with a 606s for that bike, its like the tires were made for the bike. Kendas are good too, but squirmy on the road. You could try to get some mefos, but those are always out of stock.

I am running a Kenda 270 on front and a Dunlop 606 on rear. I do mostly off road here in the Rockies and this setup works well for me.

Yep, I've got 1500 miles on my '07 KLX250 and the rear 603 Dunlop is going to need to be replaced soon, very SOON! I'm going with the 606's too!

Yea I was gonna ask this question about what tires. The stock ones SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After riding on loose half-wet dirt I had slicks and that ended my whole day of riding. My friends were zipping around while I was spinning and sliding and falling. I mostly ride off road, maybe like 4 miles on-road a day.

If you like the oem's i'll be selling aset shortly...I do 80 street, 20 dirt so I'm going with a 50/50, probably irc gp-1's. My oem's have 70 miles on them now, will probably have 200 by the time the new tires are here.

Copied and pasted from an earlier thread, sorry I was too lazy.

I am still on the stock 603 front tire at 5400 miles and it still looks to be close to 50% left. The back is the second tire, its the Dunlop 606 and has 3500 miles and still has 50% left. I ride a lot around town, some on the single track and a lot of gravel roads (behind gates) I also corner pretty hard and that's probably why the 606 has lasted so long, hard cornering takes the surface wear away from the center and so it evens everything out.

Whoops I almost forgot, I love the 606, it has never let me down, but as most of you guys know I'm not a real big fan of mud. I also have a brand new set of Kenda K270 tires that I will try, but ultimately I will go back to the 606 as long as they make them. The 603 seems to be a tire that only came on the bikes from the factory. Not sure why,...... anyone?

Deej, I just bought a 606 last night when I found your previous post on it. Still trying to fix my little "wrenching" problem so I've been riding the old 603 until a new tire shows up. I was under the impression the 606 would wear as fast as the 603 but I saw you've gotten 3400+ miles on it with lots of life still left in it. I tried to buy the Bridgestone TW302 but that order has been on backorder from the 7th with Chaparral. I tried to buy it at the same time from American Moto Tire. It was backordered there as well and they just cancelled the order. Scat tried to get it from yet another online tire place, Tires unlimited I think, and his has been on backorder for 3 weeks as well. So I was happy to see your post on the mileage for the 606. Thanks for posting! It shipped today. When are you going to make it out toTahuya again? We need to get a ride put together one of the weekends. I went to 14/48 gearing from 14/45 and got a Two Botherslast week. I'm ready for a little offroad fun now! It would be nice if the weather would start to resemble summer! Duane

Hey Duane, good to hear from someone I have actually rode with. Yes I love the 606. When you get ready to mount it up, the sidewalls are really stiff, make sure to use lots of dish washing liquid. Yes I want to get out to Tahuya again, I was telling a friend of mine that has the XT 225 that the trails out there are awesome. We'll see what happens. I'll let you know. I'm heading over to Eastern Washington in a couple of weeks and then in October hunting for a week or so, so it might have to wait until August. Later man.
