I just got in the silencer I had ordered http://www.amazon.com/Khrome-Werks-H...ST+PIPE+BAFFLE

some reason from the photos I saw I thought it came with some sort of packing in it but it doesnt, its just that perforated metal
Probably better it didnt as it would of burnt away over time anyways

It slipped right in, was a touch too long but a minute with a grinder solved that
Since its almost the same size as the outlet I didnt want to risk it blowing out
so I used the 1 included bolt and nut to screw it to the perforated tube that my dg exhaust comes with

as shown in the photos

as you can see
I dont think it can restrict the flow any
its very open around the outside, and very thin metal

I did my usual sound tests with the meter I use
did the same video as the past tests I did before
this way hopefully get close to the same readings, be aware ive put maybe 2000 miles on this muffler im sure its louder because the packing is burnt out more

so by ear sounds no different
by my meter in the same distances I done before, exactly the same readings
Now could it be slightly quieter with new packing, I will have to wait a while until I do that to see for sure

Can I hear, feel any negative effects from using it
not yet

Time will tell if the bolt will hold up into the perforated screen
that could be a weak spot, and hopefully if the bolt somehow vibrates out it wont blow out the muffler

I will keep it in and do more testing
My only concerns now will be if it starts to do any weird vibrations inside
The cap is on tight, as I cut it to the correct length
so I dont think it will be rattling because its too short
but who knows after I do alot of hard street riding how it will hold up

Is it worth the money, right now probably not
Since I had to cut it to fit, no way I could return it so might as well try it out

It's time to repack my DG so I ordered the baffle insert and packing, and I hope to get it next week. Does the spark arrestor still fit? I ride in the national forests and it is a must, to have it especially in these dry times in Southern California. Great photos Mike.

yes spark arrestor fits with the silencer cap

My cap ended up vibrating at stop lights
tried to make a ring out of copper wire to help fill in the gap
but even the ring wore away a touch and still vibrated
I even added tack weld spots to give it a little more height for the ring to press onto

if your sensitive to sounds like that , I am drives me crazy

Thumbs up

I got the baffle and installed it while repacking the DG. To use the spark arrestor I had to cut off 3 inches of the baffle to make it fit. It all sounds much better with the baffle and the repack. In order to get the tip inset to stop from rattling, I hit the end cap with a rubber mallet after unbolting the muffler case from the frame. It slid a bit and reset in the end cap. After retightening the muffler bolts there was no more rattle and the insert was tight. The next thing I did to quiet the bike down was to install the Krieger cam chain tensioner. A while after doing the 351 kit I had noticed more noise coming from the engine. It only got worse with time till I had enough. I can't believe how much of a difference the tensioner made. I wish I had done this months ago. I can now ride down the road and quit wondering where all the noise is coming from.

the baffle you cut off 3 inches
thats that tube the packing goes around?

you sure it was hammered all the way into the muffler
because my spark screen fit just fine with my silencer cap

actually the other day I put the silencer back in, using that other baffle I had posted here
cant use the screen with that baffle I have

had to change the intake because it needed more fuel which meant take off my air box lid
I was using a air fuel meter to check the jetting

its was very quiet, sounded like stock
but I lost all my bass like I thought

using my db meter, just like before when I only tried the silencer tip it reads louder at idle with the silencer and that insert inside

compared to just wide open

but I think my db meter has trouble picking up the bass, because obviously when riding its louder then with the silencer tip

I have the Khrome Werks baffle like the one in your photos. My spark arrestor is about 3 inches in a cone shape. I cut off the end that slides in first. The spark arrestor point slides into the center of the baffle barely.

Ok
I didn't realize you installed the krone weeks baffle

Thought it was just the silencer tip

I have the round style muffler and can't get the end cap off. Is there a trick to it or is it easier if it is slightly warm ? I am under the assumption DG put silicone on it when they assembled it.

Thanks
Lenman

I dont think my oval one had glue
you could try hitting with soft mallet

Well the reason I think they glued it is because they said to put some on it when you put it back on.
