No airbox lid vs. high flow snorkel
Tonite I rode the bike with no airbox lid. The top end seemed like it had no limit, but I felt like I felt a loss of initial torque on the low end, maybe a bit slower response. I have been riding with the kdx snorkel since the rejet and I think I like it better that way on the trails. But on the open road no lid would be good. So I found a product called Total Performance Intake by Thunderproducts. It is a slide air valve that goes on your airbox and it allows you to fine tune your air intake amount. They claim it is equivalent to the adjustment of one to two jet sizes. I ordered a couple and will try it out when I get them. Has anyone else tried this? Brian
My lid came off the same time the turn signals and the low hanging plate holder did. I'm running 132 and 40 jets, no lid, 13-45 sprockets and full (cough) Muzzy. The bike for me doubled in take off and top end power after doing all of these mods. I wish someone other than me could ride my bike to see the difference. Especially if they weigh 50 lbs lighter than me......which is almost everyone in this forum.[&o] Maybe I'll let the guys on the Wildcat ride take a spin and let me know what they think.
Deej i have the same set up as you except i dont have the #40 main jet,
but my bike runs like Kiwicat's, do you think the main jet is the reason, it's not worse than stock but no better.
