Nite-Glo Phase II
4 Attachment(s)
Final phase of the KLX glow project. I wanted more of the bike lit up so I added a Mega TNT Stick to both side panels and 2 smaller TNT Sticks to the rear frame under the fenders. Here's a few pics.
Battery connection: A fuse is hooked up directly to the wire coming from the battery. Attachment 21609 Here are the Mega TNT Sticks connected to the shroud, side panel and two smaller TNT Sticks connected to the frane under the rear fender. The custom shop uses double sided tape to mount the LED's but I used 'super hold' velcro to remove the LED's easily. On the frame I also added a small clear ziptie to further secure the TNT Sticks. All the sticks are very secure. Attachment 21610 Attachment 21611 Attachment 21612 I took care and used shrink tubing on some of the connections. I used the natural wire routing that Kawasaki used to wire the bike originally. The LED's are water proof and will work even if they are fully submerged in water so bring on the stream crossings. Here's a video clip of the final product. http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w...h_100_1422.jpg |
Looks cool! Anything to help be seen at night is a ++!

Thanks. Visibility is certainly a plus. The light gives a very nice green 'foootprint' on the road as well as lighting up the bike itself. The lights were previously illegal until July of last year. Obviously someone successfully lobbied the state legislature and made this whole thing possible. Cheers to those who made this project possible/legal. Originally I just had the front engine lit up but couldn't stop there. The guys at the custom shop warned me that these mods are addictive.

That's so cool man. If my riding was more road based i would do that 4 sure.

Definitely not my style, but the bike looks good. Something I haven't seen on a bike, pretty original. It actually reminds me of a game I have on my Iphone...but real. :)

Nice! Oh and if I had a garage as nice and as clean as that I would live in it. ;) I can see it now...me with my sleeping bag next to the KLX. Oh and bonus the KLX wouldn't complain about me snoring.:D

I actually got the nite glow idea from you. If my memory serves me, you had kicked around the idea of having green instrument cluster backlights and posted a web site that carries the bulbs. I went to the website and discovered alot of nifty lights but it wasn't until I found the Boogey Lights that I actually went forward with the project. So if your back light hadn't of burned out or whatever then my project might not have happened. Kind of like a 'six degrees to Kevin Bacon' type of thing.:) Mike |
