Default Newbie advice needed

Finally got a Klx....purchased a 07 klx250 with only 909 miles for great price...perfect condition never seen the dirt. I am just wanting to know of some quick inexpensives mods to do to increase performance. Just wanting to know what guys are doing. I know the basics...exhaust jet kit things like that. Love the bike eventhough its completely stock...any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

For me the jetting was a big improvement. Helped alot with the cold start. 13 Cs makes it better for off road. Other than that i'm not sinking much more than that into it to attempt make it an Orange bike. That's why i want to buy orange.

I would just ride it for a few months. After that your priority list will become clear.

Congrats by the way. I am having a great time with mine too!

Sounds like you're looking for "air-flow" mods (slip-on, air filter, larger snorkel, etc.). They're the cheapest and easiest to do.

Thanks is that a slip on exhaust? If what brand? I've heard of guys removing the air box lid and such. How good is this for the motor?

Jetting, jetting, jetting...

Most people throw on a pipe first, (and *because* of the pipe, they re-jet it)... not realizing that the re-jet got them all the extra power, NOT the pipe!!! I did my re-jetting *first*, then added a pipe a couple weeks later.

I got *WAY* more of a power increase with jetting ($50 kit) and a KDX200 snorkel ($30) than I did with a slip-on pipe ($300). In fact, I could notice *NO* improvement at all when adding the pipe (none, nada, zilch). Had I known that up front, I wouldn't have dropped the coin on the pipe at all.

Do the jetting FIRST, and also open up the intake airflow (KDX snorkel). Then put a 13T sprocket on the front. You'll be impressed at what under $100 in mods can do!!!

you answered your own question...."I know the basics...exhaust jet kit"...dyno jet kit...slip-on exhaust....fmf q4 if you like quiet...hmf or two brother if you like loud....not sure how loud the yoshimura rs-2 exhausts are...stock airbox, just go with snorkel removed (but, some will say to remove the entire top lid...try both and see what works better for you)...if you go with a k&n air filter, go with kdx snorkel and airbox closed...

Where do you plan to ride. Trails? Asphalt? Both?
For now, I'm happy with 48t and 14t gearing. Great for trails and can go 65 mph easy if need be . Problem is I like the improved torque that when I'm on the trail usually open the throttle hard and my rear tires looks like it won't last 1000 miles at the rate it's going.
