Default Newb Question - plastic hangy thing haha

I did a search but couldn't find a direct answer to my question.

I ripped off the hose with the plastic hangy thing that hung out the bottom of the bike. It's an '09 all stock. It happened off road.

It runs fine still. should i care?

It will be alright. The plastic hanging thing is a oil catch resevior. It to catch any oil that breathes out of the crankcases and into the air box before it drips out. I busted mine long ago.

What he said.... but the factory placed the little plastic catch bottle so that it will bounce off of the metal frame member, thus making it much easier to break the plastic. It should be replaced by the factory since it a part of the EPA requirements. Good luck with that one though, and they aren't cheap! Unless you are concerned with allowing a oil drop to make its way to the ground... don't worry about it. Stay safe out there,
