hi-i have been lurking awhile-been considering a used 2007 klx250s to do commute to work-what's the bike worth-excellent condition,under 100 miles-is the stock bike legal in new york state?can you guys suggest mods?i imagine the stock tires need to go...any help you can give will be surely appreciated....thank you!

 

Who cares what it's "worth". Get the guy to take the lowest amount you can. Try for $2600 and don't go above $2900(my opinion). The bike is 49 state legal. So that isn't a concern. As far as mods go.......... Piping and jetting are a must. Putting a smaller front sprocket is probably a good idea too. The rest is personal preference. If all your using it for is street and a little dirt the stock tires are ok and I'd say run 'em as long as you can.

 

Start with a jet kit, then do like ^^ said and decide what your intended use is. If you're keeping it on the street, then the stock gearing is fine, as are the stock tires. If you plan to use it mostly for the dirt, then change up the sprockets and put on some real tires.

 

Check ebay and craigslist for prices to base your purchase on. Stick with the stock gearing if you do alot of street riding. There are plenty of worth-while mods for this bike. If you plan on getting a KLX and modding it then you've come to the right place. The KLX is a very fun bike. Enjoy, and welcome to the forums
