New Tires...............Again
Just placed my order with www.rockymountainatv.com for a set of Michelin AC-10's. Opted for 2 day air so I should see them by Wed. afternoon. I'll get pics and a small review after I get them mounted. Is anyone else changing their tires multiple times/year? This is my 3rd rear tire this year and third front as well. All in all its my 4th rear and 3rd front. Thus far I've been getting 2000 miles to a set of tires, the exception was the front D603 which went 4000.
My K776F front has 2000 miles on it and its toast, the center ***** are gone to the wear indicator, and on these tires it means they are bald in the center. The Trakmaster 2 rear also has 2000 miles on it and it has 3/16" left in the center, with fairly tall side *****. As far gone as these tires are they still hook up far better than the stock D603's did. Just thought I'd share my tire experience so far.

Great timing! I'm in close need of replacement, and cannot find a simple/obvious solution. On road at least 80% of the time, but want GOOD offroad performance (preferably better than stock tires). Thinking of the D606, but I'm concerned of the mileage I will get out of it with that much pavement time. Definitely post a follow up with your initial experience on the AC10's! Thanks!!!
Depending on your terrain the K776F was an excellent dual sport tire. It had greatmud/gravel/hardpack traction, was better than the 603 in sand but I'm still sand shy. The D606 would have to last a heckuva long time for me to justify the cost of them. I'll stick to the $45 Kenda 776F and Trakmaster 2's before switching to the spendy Dunlops.
The 776F did wear out the ***** in an odd fashion. From pavement braking the ***** wore at a slant which angled up away from the bike. This is a directional tire so I didn't switch it around to even it out. The AC-10's are directional and have wear indicators as to when you need to reverse them.

And I don't ride easy either. I wring it's neck out in every gear, wheelie all the time, corner hard, and run 80mph+ on the superslab. The only thing is I'm not avery aggressive offroader. Mostly technical trails and muddy trails.
Had a set of AC10's and they are good 50/50 tires, I found the performance to be very similar to the D603 but less tendancy for the fronts to wash out in the dirt, they were a littel noisy on the street though.
I just replaced the AC10's with IRC GP110's today since I have heard of some 650cc riders getting 10K+ miles on them and good off road grip, most of my off-roading is on the hardpack.

I put on a set of AC10's a week or so ago. I have about 150 miles on them now with 110 of that dirt/trails. I think that the AC10 is more of a 80/20 type. On the street, I find that it isa bit bumpy at 40+mph -- may be the newness of the tires. My street travel is a short commute (< 3 miles) in which I don't go over 45mph.
One the dirt roads and trails, this is a great tire. 40 MPH on a dirt road and it sticks, as opposed to the stockers which seemed to slip out. In the mud, its great too, it grabs through the goo and quickly sheds it. However on rock, especially smoother rocks, they do feel a bit slippery. This is probably due to the low surface area contact due to the knobbies. I run them at 14psi on the trails (with rimlocks).
The tire came recommended to me from a riding partner and I'll recommend them to for this type of trail/street mix.

I got barely 1000 before my back was bald. But I can't get a good tire for my riding since I ride mainly off road, but have to travel 3 miles to get to the trails. The bald tire is actually hooking up pretty well, but I don't feel like waiting for the cords to come through.
Sizes:
80/100-21 Front
110/100-18 Rear
At the same time, I swapped out the inner tubes with MSR Ultra Heavy Duty Tubes (same sizes) and fitted Motion Pro rim locks 1.60 for the front and 2.15 for the rear
