<---- (stupid newbie)

i know where they go and what they look like.... but how do rim locks work??? they hold the inner tube from slipping around ? or they hold the tire from slipping around the rim?

A rim lock is a pinching device that holds the bead of the tire against the rim of the wheel. It doesn't have anything to do with the tube. Don't feel bad I didn't know what one was two years ago.

How much louder are the Kenda Trakmasters over the stock tires? I know the stockers hum a good bit above 40mph or so.

Are the Trackmaster's a better dirt tire vs. theDunlop 606's (for those who have had both)?

It matters to me, I just want to know as a reference. Anybody else know how much louder the Kenda Trakmasters over the stock tires?

I've said it about 50 times but I'll say it again leave the valve nut loose and you wont rip valves.
For real?
yeah for real ... using rim locks also
cutting the story short using the stock tyres I lowered the rear pressure to get up a wet slippery hill and ripped a valve. I installed a rim lock and a new tube, lowered the pressure to 15 or 16 and ripped a valve going up a steep hill. One of the guys I was riding with told me to leave the valve nut loose, since then I have not ripped a valve and that includesriding witha full knobby (more grip)

If you have a pipe other than stock, the TM noise shouldn't bother you at all. Its right on part with my 300 exhaust, which is quieter than the Muzzy, BG, and 2 Bros.
