i wouldnt worry about it IMO. if the tire had been sitting outside in the sun and elements it would be a different story since that will degrade the rubber much more quickly than age in a more stable environment.

just my .02

In an off road or ds role I'd think it would be fine if it was a sport bike I would want fresh rubber as it does make a difference. New and 5 years old isn't fresh.

Cracks in sidewall are the key issues from a safety point of view. Represents ozone damage. Stored out of sun light and heavy exposure to ozone from electric motors and such the tire should be okay.

Make sure the bead looks good and isn't crimped from whatever it was hanging on.

The tire looks fine..
But like posted.. It's going on a Busa Ft. Tire I think he is going to go get a new one.. Or should I say one with a current Date..
Be super bad if something happened at 150 mph

unless hes going to the track i would be alot more worried about 1000 other things than a five year old tire failing at 150 on the street.

IMO

If your friend rides 150 mph on the street, he deserves an old cracked tire. I have little sympathy for idiots.

On the other hand, if he's doing that on the track, then go man go. Get a new tire and ride safe.
