Aren't my numbers good enough for you? They're straight from Ducati.com. Wanna see a linky winkey?

http://www.ducati.com/news/07/news002/news002.jhtml

C'mon, whats 5hp and 5lbs among fellow posters? Call it whatyou want, but again, the Ducati website says the motor is Desmo based.

Here's a quote for you:

"The new 1100 Desmo engine pumps out potent torque and horsepower that is smooth and linear. The lightweight, powerful engine is the result of more than three decades of Desmo two-valve development. One ride with the 1100 explains how it has charmed journalists worldwide into claiming it to be the perfect motorcycle engine. In keeping with its aggressive image, the Hypermotard engine sports a racing-style dry clutch."

It's an awesome bike. I'm not argueing that. That engine is capable of pumping-out a lot more hp, but Ducati has wisely decided in favor of low-end torquefor that style of bike and it's primary use.

ORIGINAL: EvildoerZX10R

Its a Ducati Hyper Moto 1100 cc motor. 100HP, 385 LP, The object is nothing to do with attracting attention. It is going to be the baddest corner carver on the planet. This is no replacement for my KLX. When I ride on the streetI ride in the mountains on curvy roads and this is the machine for the way I like to ride.

Your #'s are fine. There have been many different HP readings on the net and in mag's. I was typing and posting the same time as you. I am not trying to be argumentative at all. I have been reading about this bike for a year now not just the past couple of hours so I imagine I have read nearly everything that has been published about it. I know that it now says it has 95 HP in most articles I was just rounding it out. Sorry I wasn't exact but I have seen all kinds of #'s in the past year and we really won't know until I put mine on the dyno. After all these are just manufactures #'s. Kawasaki claimed 183 for the zx10 in 2004 mine only had 156.

When they're getting that big I'd think of it more as a streetbike then anything, just looks like naked sport bike.

All 3 bikes in this thread are amazing. The Ducati is truly gorgeous. I bet is is incredible to ride. I find it interesting, though, that they routed the exhaust so low. I thought one of the unique characteristics about supermoto bikes was a high-mounted exhaust like a dirt bike.

Other than that, it is pretty close to perfect.

Well, you are right about going off road with this bike. I am getting it for the street I might take it down a gravel road at the most. I sat on the Aprilia and it looks very cheap compared to the Ducati. There is really no comparing the two and the Husky is nice but like theAprilia it has a 38" seat height. If my legs were 4" longer and I was looking for a bike that could go off road I would be looking somewhere else. And the Ducati has one thing neither of those bikes will ever have 95+ HP. I like to go tothe the track and ride in the mountains and the Ducati will run circles around either of these other bikes where I ride. If they were going off road that would be another story. It is a vee twin that is why one of the pips run under the bike then out under the seat.

"i'd rather have the new KLX 450. mainstream or not, it's gonna kick some ****."

That is like saying you'd rather have an SUV than a Porsche. I am sure that an SUV is better if you are going to haul the kids around or go off road and the Porsche it better at screaming around mountain corners. I am not trying to say the Ducati is better than a Kawasaki 450 just way different and not intended for the same purpose. I have a dirt bike it's a KLX 250 and that is all I need. I am fast on the road but on the dirt I don't need anything more than 20 HP. The 450 even comes on too strong for most professional riders. That is why it ends up at the bottom of most comparisons. It is FAST in the dirt!
