Default New KLX owner! Some newbie questions

Hey everyone! I picked up a "used" KLX250S today with 127 miles! I'm super pumped, especially since the owner had the warranty extended out to 2017! Ha! But so far its been a great bike!! Love it on the road, waiting to get to the trails! So my few questions...

In a fit of excitement, I proceeded beat merciless on the bike. Running out to 10.5K for a few lights when I suddenly remembered that the bike only had 127 miles... Be patient because I've never had something new and had to be conscious of break in. Now I read on here that the Kawasaki recpmmended break in is not needed but to follow what other members have said before. No problem but have I damaged anything wrapping it out like that? It was pretty warmed up when doing it.

Second question... Well actually I forgot my second question. I'm happy to be part of the Kawasaki forums and look forward to getting to know my KLX. Feel free to add things that you think I should know! I'm going to continue picking through the FAQs!

Thanks!

2013!

And I remembered my second question. What is lugging the engine? It feels like anything under 4k rpm gets stuttery but I know that may just be nature of the motor.

Could be the jetting. Are there any mods on it? Change in elevation? Was the bike sitting unused for a while?

I won't even take it to 10.5K RPM and mine has like 5,300 miles on it. Hell, I don't like taking it past 9K. It just makes me feel guilty, like I'm beating up on a friend or something.

Depending on the gear and how aggressively I'm riding, I usually shift between 5 and 7K. Anything under 5 is sluggish, and under 4 you're gonna start lugging the engine.

Nothing wrong with taking it to the redline as long as its properly warmed up. Redline is set low on this bike on purpose, so it can take it np.

Bone stock, probably sat but all the gas was still good. Riding at almost 6000 feet.

Throw in some fresh Dino juice and filter now,
Do the same again in several hundred miles,
Then
Install the hi-quality poison of your choice, and pile on the miles

10.5 is really wringing it out

It didn't come with an owners manual.

10.5K is not bad. It's still below redline. My concern was the break in period (which I now realize has passed). The ignition on this bike has a rev limiter. The sole purpose of which is to prevent damage. I may be wrong in assuming, but if wrapping 10.5K on my bike would damage it, wouldn't the manufacturer set the rev limiter lower??
