New KLX 250 Owner with questions
Bought a left over 09 a couple of weeks ago (CA model). Rode the bike home, and was sick to my stomach with the power.
Well I ordered the FMF Power core, and mega bomb header, along with the dyno jet kit. Installed the 128 main, kept the stock pilot, changed the needle, turned the fuel screw two turns out, and removed the air box lid.
Bike feels a little better, but seems to have too much bog with the low end power. Top end is very good though.
Any suggestions? I really like the bike but don't think its running correct.

I used to have close to your setup. Your just going to have to mess with your carb settings. Have you drilled your slide on the stock carb yet? This helps with throttle response.
Try this thread. It should give you a baseline.

And welcome to the forum! You will be impressed with the knowledge you can gain from all the helpful people on here. I belong to many forums for many different hobbies, but this is one of the most informative.

Don't forget your bike is brand new. When I bought my '07 used (480mi) it seemed to run fine but was anemic. Seat of the pants impression was the bike got more "legs" - at both ends - as it got broken in somewhere between 1000-1500 miles.
Bike now has around 2700 miles on it and I have most of the mod parts I want (pipe,DJ kit, kouba screw, etc) to open it up. One of the reasons I've left it stock for so long is to get a better feel for the baseline performance, which is adequate if not inspiring. If I can get a few more ponies out of the mods I'll be happy

Bogs as in loses power, or hesitates a bit then goes ?
Bog is to rich, hesitate is to lean. Raise the clip on the needle if its rich, lower the clip on the needle if its lean.
My bike with the DJ kit and stock exhaust is running 128 main, third notch on the needle 2.5 turns on the pilot at 1000' and its spot on. When i go with a full exhaust i'm thinking i'll probably need to bump the main to 132 and drop the clip on the needle a notch (richen).
Your results may vary.

Here's a really helpful site about carb tuning for NSR250s. The only difference is that KLXs don't have power jets, everything else is the same concept. The diagrams and explainations helped me tune my 351cc with 39mm carbs. Check Here

Yeah it boggs on the low end, but once the rpms hit 5-6 thousand she really screams. I'll try raising the clip one notch.

So I take it you have the exhaust intalled as well? I have a megabomb, Q4 and DJ jet kit. I still have my lid on with the kdx200 snorkel. I went with the 124 main ( because I live at 3300' elevation ) and it is damn near spot on. But in saying that, I could probably almost go to a 128 main.
Whats your elevation? The higher up you go, the smaller the jet you have to run
Sounds like your too rich, try playing with the needle to lean it out, if not, maybe a smaller main jet?
