Default New head bolts with 351??

Do you use new head bolts when doing the 351 or other similar work? Doesn't seem like many, if any, mention it. Had a gear head today suggest it as "cheap insurance." Wasn't planning on it. Should I?

thx

I just used the original ones... but my bike only had 2,500 klms on it when I did the 351cc.

Bill said I didn’t need to re-torque them but I had the valve cover off after about 100klms on the kit, putting new valve shims in so I checked the torque and three of the four were still perfect and I got a tiny (and I mean really tiny) bit more on the other. The two smaller bolts were also still fine.

It's not a diesel engine. No new head bolts needed.

I've had my head off and on about six or seven times and still using stock bolts.

my honda civic's are torque to yield and are not reusable. it all depends on what they use. a couple of bucks for cheap insurance is better then none at all.

Yep, it's a good practice to replace head bolts/studs on most motors. Especially FI motors. The bolts/studs can stretch.

I've done it on every head gasket job on my boosted cars.

I think the "cheap" insurance will run about $20-$25. Probably passing on this one.
Thanks all.

boosted= supercharger or turbo lol

well blown is supercharge so maybe its just for turbo or nos idk...

Any way, I doubt you need new head bolts, its not like some fancy racing bike... its a rugged single, and my manual says nothing about the bolts being trash after one torque like most fancy import car manuals do.

LOL Car Booster
Can you get me a new truck Larry?

I re-used my head bolts. The man-well didn't say anything about replacing them.
