Hey everyone, I finally modded my bike and after I started her up there was a light smoke coming out of the can and around the header flange. Is this normal for a new slip on? I spilled some blue locktight on the header so I'm assuming that's the reason for the light smoke there. As for the can, I used red hi-temp silicone so I'm assuming its either that or the packing. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Mods consist of FMF Powercore 4 slip on, dynojet 2152 kit stage 2, kdx snorkel, uni filter

 

Mine is still smelling funny after 200 miles. The neighbour said it had a "racing smell". I guess that's ok.

 

how long did you let it cure? and some smoke will be normal due to the metal soaking up oils from the manufacturing process i useally clean new parts with alcohol or something to avoid the burn off

 

I let it cure for about 30 hours or so. But the thing I didn't do was finger tight and let sit for an hour and then tighten completely as per instructions.

 

Mine smoked for a couple of rides after I installed it. If it still smokes you might be too rich.

 

I'll make sure to keep an eye on it and hopefully it goes away. Any more inputs as to what may cause this?

 

should just go away after couple long "hot" rides...

 

Cool, that seems to be the general consensus so now I can stop worrying about my baby girl
