Default New 09 in the long weekend mud

So the long weekend was nice and warm out, so i ventured out to Mclean Creek to ride with all the drunk meat heads that come out of the woodwork. Dont get me wrong, i enjoy a good long weekend booze fest, but iusually keep the bike parked while im getting trashed. Over 600 charges laid over the weekend there, mostly drinking and driving and lack of registration offences. Saw lots of RCMP (cops) on quads, lots of beer drinking, and a few firearms, overall it was a great day and aside from a bog that tried to swallow my ride, had no problems.

This day took me from 600km to 800km on my odometer...no better way to break in a KLX!

Great photos! We were going to head to Mclean this weekend, but the weather is just a bit too ugly. [:'(]

Nice looking bag on the back, too. We were thinking of going with the DirtBagz, but I think I like the looks of your setup better. I assume it just bolts into the holes where the stock toolbag is mounted? Is it pretty solid back there?

If you're happy with it and could recommend it for the KLX, I'd be curious to know who makes it & where you bought it from.

EDIT: Oops, nevermind. Just showed your photos to my wife, and her first question was "How am I going to swing my leg over that bag to get on the bike?" I didn't have an answer to that one, so it looks like we'll probably just go with the DirtBagz.

Nice!!!

I like the jump photo. Thats the only way to trail ride. If you ain't getting air, you're not riding hard enough.

Somebody send a bucket of mud for Deej.

So the tailbag is just a basic $30 bicycle bag, i drilled 4 holes in the bottom and used the stock bolts and washers to go into the existing fender holes. The bag stays on perfectly, even when flying through the air. Its easy to get on and off with it there, and you can mount if further back if you are worried about getting on and off or doubling..

Mclean would be a swamp this weekend, I would give it a week of sunshine to dry out. Getting the ride covered in mud was pretty liberating though, thats why i bought it.

The other ride is a 05 Honda 650XL, really cool ride, one of the more dirt oriented 650s, tons of tourque, but my buddy spent all day picking it up and pushing through the thick mud, its just not as nimble and fun to ride as the KLX, very tall and way heavier. The only time it ourperformed the kLX was on steep hill climbls where i powered out. Im hoping a muzzy and rejet will fix that.

Thanks for the tip on the bag. We decided to give it a try and it works great!

Went to McLean today and it was a muddy mess. We didn't get very far,but did havesome fun: it definitely needs more time to dry out.

Here's a pic:

(For any other Canadians interested, the bag is the Rackpack Backpack from MEC. It also comes in blue in case there's any Yamaha riders lurking here. )

EDIT: Sorry about the picture. Is this place still buggy, 'cause I can't seem to get the damn picture to show up? Or maybe I'm just an idiot....
