I'm actually riding the z900 2018 and loving it. But i'm also considering having this little bike. Is it nice to commute on this bike? No highway to get to work, 50km. I will mostly ride on the roads (paved and unpaved) but I'm interresting to try it in the trails too. Any info and tips are welcome! Thank you

 

I run an XSR700 for street, use my KLX for back road and dirt/gravel roads as well as any trails. The Z900 and the KLX would be quite complementary.

 

this thing will probably feel like a snail compared to your z900 i imagine. you might "grow" out of it and want an eurdo or a slighter more powerful dual-sport soon is my only concern.

 

I would love a KTM 350 excf, street legal, much like our KLX but probably better in every way. But for a guy like me that makes less than $18 an hour... $11,199 is a hard pill to swallow. The KLX has certainly proven reliable and handles great!

 

Funny you bring that up because I was just thinking the same thing. I feel like if Kawasaki bridged the gap in the dual sport market between the KLX250 and the KLR650, a ton of people would opt for it especially in the single cylinder arena. I know they hae Versys X-300 but that's not really a dual sport bike and definitely less capable off-roads (ground clearance, feel, etc etc).

And judging by the popularity of Bill Blue's 351cc conversions, you'd think Kawasaki would take a hint about trying to build a slightly bigger bike than the KLX250 to meet those riders. Or maybe it's smog-related constraints that's holding them back.
