I vouch for the Shorai too. It's on its fourth season now, with no sign of weakness. I greatly appreciate the weight reduction vs a lead-acid, it's well worth the increased cost in my case.

I've got 6 Antigravity batteries across my fleet and they've been fantastic, without a single failure yet. 4 8 cells, a 12 cell, and a 4 cell. The 4 cell cranks my KTM 450 over well, I use 8 cells on my 250XC and my 525's. I am planning to put a 4 cell on my KLX as 120cca should be plenty in most cases, and add a kick starter to it for backup purposes.

I'm trying to put the bike on a diet and even if I'm adding some of the weight back with the kick-starter, I'd still be centralizing it by taking 5 lbs off the subframe area, and adding a pound or so to the engine.

Default +1 for Shorai

I also have a Shorai in mine. I have run it flat a few times in the winter while trying to start this cold-blooded bike! Anything less than -15 deg C and the bike was a pain to start. The Shorai came back each time on a 700mA battery tender.

That special charger is on my wish-list, but I don't have it yet (the stator doesn't have a fancy output for LiIon batteries!)

Since the lithium batteries are just a little more expensive than a good AGM, I justified the purchase via weight reduction (mounted relatively high too).

p.s. I would be more worried about a cellphone catching fire in my pocket!

here's another vote for a Shorai. I didn't buy mine for weight savings but for cranking power. I had a gel battery that , if the weather was cold, was not up to the task of starting the bike. Too many push starts at cold morning events pushed me to drop the $$ on the Shorai. 2-3 yrs running now, no issues. Jinx
