Default Need help picking an exhaust

So being in Canada my options are fairly limited unless I want to pay big bucks on conversion, taxs, shipping, customs.......

What I have easily available in Canada is an FMF power bomb header($265) with a 2 Brothers M7 slip on($555). So about $850CDN to me with taxes/shipping.

However I don't want something obnoxiously loud and I've heard that the 2 Brothers exhaust is pretty loud. I don't mind a bit more than stock but is the 2 Brother's going to drive me buggy?

Also is it possible to order parts from another bike like a KLX300? When I search for a KLX300 I got a few more options for slip ons but nothing for a header.

Thanks!

Also are the exhausts for the 2006-2007 bikes interchangable with the 2009+ bikes? A lot of fitment charts I see say no.

Maybe look for a used KLX300 header and silencer as an option. Several have done that with good performance results and reasonable sound.

I had a loud HMF silencer for a while and hated it. Then went with a FMF Q4 with quiet core, used. Its a 2009+ model and fits my 2006 fine, but can't speak to other models.

I've looked around for used KLX300 stuff and havn't seen anything. Ebay sellers ttypically wat $80-$100 for shipping to Canada so that makes a used $50 header over $150CDN wwith shipping and exchange.

Will an aftermarket exhaust for a KLX300 fit a KLX250 if I buy a silencer and header for a KLX300?

Not sure if you've seen this thread, but Klxster did a good write up on many of the popular choices:

I also wanted the quietest aftermarket option, and ended up with a Q4 with quiet insert. In theory I could add a megabomb and possibly quiet it down a bit more, but am running the stock header for now. It's still just a little bit louder than I want, but the only other option is to go back to the sewing machine quiet and restrictive exhaust.

Not quite your ONLY option. There was someone here years ago who fitted a street bike silencer onto the KLX for lots more flow and quieter than the aftermarket products. It took some fabrication effort.

I've had two KLX250's and the best deal I found both times was from one of a few sellers on ebay. It worked out, even with conversion and shipping to be significantly cheaper than buying in Canada.

Not much point in doing the 351 with stock exhaust.

Have you tried calling around? I know royal distributing carries FMF for anything you want and will ship for free. My local dealer could beat most prices with shipping I found online. The FMF Q4 seems to the quiet choice The 300 system will fit if you buy BOTH pieces. the 300 header has a flair, so it won't interchange unless you have a 300 muffler.
