My upcoming weekend project :)
That's a nice lookin' setup, Jpaul. That's the general idea that I'm going for, except I'm going to use the stock taillight. The stocker has a good shape and flows with the lines of the bike. But that's the general idea I'm going for. Have the plate tucked right up under the taillight and move the signals in.
yep the tag could go up a little... i've had to straighten it out several times by hand. takes a pretty big hit to push the rear tire up that far, but it does happen from time to time.
haha well actually mine is done the Exact same way that Tmoe is so his pics are the same as mine lol
Well I went ahead and disassembled the back tonight and got a peak at what lies ahead. It looks like we MAY have to hack up the stock fender and use part of it. The big dangly thing actually takes up the gap between the subframe and the bottom of the rear plastic. The top section of it slides between the two:

We're gonna give it a better look tomorrow, maybe we can figure out how to not have to use it. Thinking about hacking off the entire tail of the fender and just using the top part where it bolts to the subframe and holds the taillight. The problem with this, however, is I still want to tuck the turn signals, so I think the biggest / hardest metalworking will be making a bracket INSIDE the rear fender to mount the signals and have them tucked in. We'll see!
Here's a teaser shot.

I'll create a build thread tomorrow when its all done.

Awesome stuff guys. Is there any way to incorporate the rubbery flexibility of the stock turn signal stalks with some LED's?
The stock signals go well with the bike, but the main reason I like them is they bend so much.
