This might be a dumb question.... keeping in mind i am relatively new to the dirtbike world.... but i am wondering are all tyres with no direction indicator reversible?

I currently have a Metzeler MC5 MX tyre on the rear that pretty worn on the drive side of the ***** but the other side **** are still nice and sharp. I cannot find any information on whether this tyre is reversible or not???

There are no direction indicators so i assume it is... so i though i best ask..... Just want to get max life out of the tyre before I have to fork out for a new one (yeah I am a tight ****)

 

Go ahead. If you want reverse it. It will not hurt a thing.

Alot of people reverse knobby tires for that reason.

Most tires are revesable. Thou most don't last long enough or too much of a hassle. I wear mine down to where they become low on tread or un-safe.

Since you reminded me. Why is it that so many motorcyclists install a rotational tire going the wrong direction? Is it that they don't make a note about which side is left or right on the wheel hub?

I was going to get a new one but thought bugger it wouldn’t mind practising my tyre changing skills (which aren’t very good) and thought that it as about time to switch this around before it got to low.

I have never reversed my tire.....

 

I probably really don’t need to just want to see if there is much of a difference in performance if it was reversed after wearing it down.

My brother just got a Michelin AC10 rear and its specifies that once the "M" that is grooved into the ***** disappears its time to reverse the tyre..... this just got me thinking about mine cause now that the "sharp" edge has worn on my rear I notice that I don’t get the same performance.

 

What's a tyre? Isn't that a place from Bible history? LOL

 

Even directional tires will work if reversed.

I read a test of directional tires mounted backwards, and the conclusion was that the difference in handling was not significant. These were summer tires.

Usually they are directional for a reason, and that reason is braking. If I were running a directional snow tire for ice racing, I would run it backwards for better acceleration.
