Did somebody call my name?

Congrats on the new bike! The idleing issue that you speak of is very common on the 450 with the stock jetting. Get a jetting kit (jd, or dynajet) and richen it up a bit. That seems to be the fix. Also there are a few other mods that will help out on the overall performance and rideability of this bike.
All the things that you mentioned are covered over in the KLX450R forum on ThumperTalk.
Good luck and have fun!
I know how much I like mine, and wouldn't trade it for anything else!

Not surprising, though, given the PC red-tape clowns who run this country.....
I believe it was deemed "Too Much Fun".

This seems to be the category that goes straight to the banned pile.

Nice bike!

Well the bikes off to Hands-on bike shop tomorrow to get the royal de-corking treatment and some other bits and pieces done. The owner has been the only dealer to tell me that (as vfrpilot said) that it is the jetting as it's way too lean whereas others said it was normal. So all good intentions pointed his way so he's getting my cash
And here's a tip, if you have a problem with a bike dont ask Kawasaki Australia for help cause you'll only get the receptionist to answer your email

Congrat's on the new ride! Although it will help a lot, it will be interesting to see if the jetting totally fixes the return to idle issue. Under certain conditions, it's pretty common for flat side carbs to be a bit slower returning to idle.

My local Kawasaki dealer has a new '08 KLX450 which has been dual-sported. It's been there for over a year now. I'm going to give it until next Spring and if it's still available I'll jump on it. They're good looking bikes and I've seen a lot of great reviews on them.

I was just thinking that the charging problem might be a bad battery.
BIke is a beauty!! Can you tell me what it weighs? Is is a 6 speed, and what kind of top end speed can you expect from it?
