Yeah GPS tracking is expensive for a good quality one and there is a subcription. However, its still less than insurance deductable and on the good ones have vibration sensor and Geo-fencing so you can get a text on your cellphone if someone is moving the bike.

Daren, here in Europe motorbike theft falls mostly into two categories:

1) Eastern Europeans travelling to Western Europe to steal bikes (and other machinery) bring 'em back home and sell them in parts or fake the papers
2) Immigrants stealing bikes for joyriding, trashing them until they break and then setting them on fire.

The second one is the most common one and what happend to both my bikes (There were witnesses). And before anyone calls me a racist, I am half-immigrant myself, so

Wow, that's crazy! I didn't realize the steering lock was easy to break. It looks like you've got some work ahead of you.

Steering locks only take seconds to break, sit on the bike, feet up on handle bars push with your feet until the handle bars break free.
You should never rely on just your steering lock for security.

I think I might go through the insurance to have it repaired, fingers crossed it should be a straight forward process.

Hope this never happens again.

Oh man! That's why I put a disc lock on my bike at all times! Steering locks are super easy to break. I'm sorry this happened to you. Do you have a garage to put it in?

Wish I did but I have to rely on other means of security, disc locks, alarms etc.
Can't keep anything nice to yourself these days

Correct, depend on Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson for security. Rare in my area for any type of theft while someone is home.

I think these poor guys are in countries that do not have the right to carry Smith & Wesson to protect persons and property.

Even if I had S&W, it wouldn't have done me any good because I never noticed that my bike was gone until the next day

I sure would love to send some lead their way though.
