Default my 2012 250s mod questions....

1. muffler only, or header and muffler?....also brand? 2 bros. told me to not get this bike unless racing due to only being affective at high rpm's.Yoshimura says buy only the muffler......

2. BB big bore kit....prob 331 0r 340 with using oem carb.....use stock metering pin,not dynojets?....is the BB kits plug and play? no reliability issues?

1) It's not a racing bike, it's a dual sport.

2) If you're willing to go wet sleeve and go to a 340, why not a 351? The only problems I've heard of were due to poor mechanical assembly technique, and a bad batch of sleeves. My 331 has been flawless for a couple of thousand miles....very, very happy with it.

after researching further, im thinking 331....just curious about the whole full system,vs just a slip on.....also with the 331 kit....keeping the oem carb is ok?

Go big or go home. Why get the smaller bore when there's bigger available?!

And yes, stock carb is just fine.

My GUESS is that a more open slip-on gives you more bang for the buck, compared to a full system. The oem carb is fine, if you don't mind a CV carb (I don't mind it). There are some pumper carbs that work, which give a quicker response to throttle input, but, I understand they can be a bit more touchy with jetting.

I went with the 331 to stay with a dry sleeve, since I run this bike in hot desert conditions. After seeing how little the fan actually comes on, I'd be getting a 351 if I had it to do over again. Still, the 331 is a great improvement...and it's worth every penny!

If you go with an FMF slip-on you could always later add a power or megabomb header which is what I did. The header didn't gain as much as the slip-on but it was a positive change when added.

I just bought a 2012 about a month ago, already wrecked it while dodging a rattlesnake. Yesterday, I shortened the kick stand because I have let the bike down front and back. I bought one of those atv seat covers from wal-mart for the seat. I unhooked the kick stand switch and removed it completely. I bought a kitchen cutter plastic board in the kitchen section of wal-mart and made a rear rack. Next thing after my 600 mile breakin is open up the idle circuit on the carb. It don't want to start warm without pulling the choke out. After that, I am going to get that anvil of a seat fixed, it needs to be lower and wider. After that, maybe bigger foot pegs. I am 66 years old and like the power purty much the way it is.
