Notice how all the Muzzy owners have the most posts - they spend all their free time writing instead of riding Just kidding Deej, are we going to throw you a party when you hit 5500 posts?

RE: Muffler survey?
well, to be totally honest (yeah, like I'm not all the time) if you want a really good system and don't want to spend a lot money and still be quiet at the same time, look into a KLX 300 oem system. The 300 muffler makes as much power as any slip-on while doing it in a very quiet tone. Parks in Iowa are enforcing 96db sound levels on bikes. If you don't pass, choke up $175 and plan on putting your pipe on ebay for some gas money. Seriously though, if you read around, the 300 boys will tell that their stock system with the buttplug removed is all they need. Now, if you want more top end and still stick with the oem 300 muffler, the fourstrokeworks.com header pipe will open your top-end up. Add a 13 tooth front sprocket and laugh at these other dorks (me included) that think it's cool to plaster a bannered exhaust system on their bike that would wake kingtut, costs upwards of $400, and makes little to no more horspower. Ok, a little, but for $400, I would look into other exhaust avenues. that's my .02

It took 2 months for my muzzy to come in, but it was well worth the wait. going to cancel the FMF order tomorrow. My brother ordered a BigGun and it took him just over a month to get it too.

The oem 300 exhaust is still fairly loud unless you make your own endcap or downturned tip. And it doesn't have a "clean" sound to it, probably due to the mechanical baffles instead of packing. The BG, Muzzy, 2bros, and HMF are louder..............but the sound is so much sweeter compared to the sometimes tinny 300. I plan on replacing my 300 with the FMF full system, I like the look and sound of it, but $550 isa steep price to pay.

Do as much research as you can. There are a lot of links to sound clips posted on this forum, including one from an FMF Q series, which actually sounds pretty good. As far as full systems available for this bike, there is the Big Gun Evo X, Muzzy, FMF Q-series with power bomb header (sweet set-up, IMO) and Staintune which is a bit more challenging to aquire, but never needs repacking.
Ultimately, I'm sure you will choose what suits your taste. Good luck!

I'm running the FSW header and an FMF powercore 4 silencer. My total waiting time to get them in my hands was about 4 days. It's got a pretty healthy deep tone.I added a quiet core after a few weeks, not because it's obnoxious but because i wanted a little bit quieter for the real long rides.
