Default Mountain recon trip

I knew it was probably a bit early, butthe sun was out andI had the itch.I went into the mountains to check onsome of my favorite roads, since I had heard on the news that some ofthe tourism money making routes where getting plowed to open-up the season.

I found a lot of this stuff along the way. In some parts, the snow was like two walls that rose way above your head on both sides of the road, but there weren't any safe places to pull over and get pics.

Ahhhhh! Inside a restaunt with a hot cup of coffee!

Tried to take my favorite short cut back down the mountain, but was greeted withdeep snow and a sign that said the road won't be opened until the end of April. I guess that route didn't warrant any snow removal money.

All in all, a pretty brisk ride. There was quite a bit of run-off coming across the road, so I traveled more cautiously than normal. I had my winter jacket and a balaclavaon under my helmetand had plenty of coffee and dounuts along the way, so the cold didn't bother me much. Thought about going further up, but it was getting late and I didn't wan't to push my luck.

LOL! Yeah, I've been known to have that type of effect.

Even where I'm at gets hot and humid in the summer. You would swear you are not in the same place when the season changes though.

On a side note, I went for a short cruise down a semi-paved path that parallels the costline today and uexpectedly found myself in YOUR element! It seems we've had some westerly winds that blew some fairly deep sand onto the path. I was poking along at the time, so the front end was trying its best to wash out. It was right about where I had to turn around anyway, so making a one legged U-turn was a snap . Hit a couple more pockets of it on the way back, but was at cuising speed, sothere was no further drama.

Yeah, that's understandable. Your buddy probably live further south were they don't get much of this white stuff. Ilived near Tokyo for 3 years while I was still intheNavy androde my bike year-round.

I'min the northernmost part of the main island now. The winters are too darn long here!

Yeah I wish I could have stopped for a pic in the deeper spots, but there was no shoulder and I wasn't feeling especially brave.

Okinawa never gets snow. The worstthey get is a monsoon season, but that's about it.
