Default Modifying an IMS fuel tank.

Guys,
I have decided to modify my Carb IMS fuel tank to fit my fuel pump so i can install it on my EFI . Has anyone experience with repairing these plastic tanks.?
I thought if i cut the round hole for the pump and align the pump up so i can get the bolt hole spacing, then drill out and install 6mm Stainless rivet nuts into the plastic tank , then bolt up my pump.
Any comments before i ruin the IMS tank ??

Thanks guys,
Your input is invaluable

George

Yes, they do , but they will only give me $100 USD exchange on my one, and it costs $550 USD for a tank after it has been sent here with tax. So i have one here in the workshop.

$75 USD to ship the old one to them, $550 for the new one.
Not worth it.

The one i have was a wrong order and is for a Carb, (Still brand new in the box with all fittings and cap.)

When i first bought my bike i bought up a lot of parts from all over the net. Once i am happy with my bike. I will be selling lots of it.
I have a Clark larger tank also in green. But have to find out what size.
Head
Piston / jug
cams
headlight from a 2008 i think with fairing and bracket.

Lots more.
Will have a big sell once i am happy with the bike.

Did you see my suggestion in your other post about using an external electric fuel pump? They make them for cars and they don't cost that much. Odds are you can find something where you are. Holley and Carter make them. Match the output requirements and you have a pump that will work. Clamp it like a shock reservoir somewhere on the frame.

Glad to have given the tip that may help. From a money standpoint, I hope it works and saves some money.

Now to see if there is a pump that will do the pressure required. I doubt the flow will be an issue since they are feeding about 100% more displacement per cylinder.
