Default Which model year to be on the lookout for?

I've decided that I'd like to start searching for a used KLX250S, probably something 2005 and newer. Is there a particular year(s) that I should be looking for? I'm a tall rider, so if there were any years with a lower/softer suspension, I certainly wouldn't want those.

They're all good, but perhaps a slight advantage goes to the '06/'07 models. Those are closer to a street legal copy of the off-road-only KLX300 with 11" of suspension travel and more interchangeability of OEM and aftermarket parts. In the U.S. there really isn't a KLX250S before '06, and there's not an '08 at all officially.

Thanks for the response, TNC. Well, that certainly explains why I never see any '08's for sale.
BTW, do you know when they switched from the dial instruments to the LCD screen? I'm not so sure I dig that LCD screen - though, if if has gas usage info. on it that would be useful.

The old analog gauges were on the '06/'07. From '09 on, the digital guage is standard. The digital guage is very good generally. I ditched the heavy analog gauges on my '06 and installed a Trailtech Vapor unit which is one of the better mods done to my bike. It has all the info you'll ever need, it's compact, and it's reliable.

No gas usage info for the US bikes. Only the fuel injected Euro bikes have it.

06 07 are sexier for a dual sport, more travel, real overdrive gear.

09+ are more....sexy imo

06/07, for your feet's sake. The extra ground clearance is a bigger deal than the extra inch of suspension IMO. Later models do look nicer.

Around here, used, you can find a plated 300 easier than a 250S
